River Thames - Lechlade

Hi! A few words to keep in touch with you, while we progress slowly around the UK. We left Molesey on 20th May to move on board Pluto for the boating season, we spent a few days finishing off this winter's modifications. Pluto has had a major internal refit to go with the recent change to a blue and grey livery. We now have ash framing on the interior panelling, new lights, tiled worktops with ash edging, new curtains, a recovered headboard, LCD television with a digital adaptor and leather cushions on our armchairs. Instead of the Crick Show we went by boat to support our extended family at the Kilworth Challenge. This is an amazing charity event, put on by the village, which raised in excess of £40,000 for various charities. We did our best to support our team, "The Kilworth Coots", and in addition marshalled at some of the challenges. This finished on the Sunday so we went back into the Crick Show for the bank holiday. Due to an invitation to attend a very good friend's 60th birthday garden party at Newbridge on 5th June, we left Crick at 5:00 AM on the 1st, apologies to anyone who heard us depart in the rain. We were first in the queue at Watford Locks and were clear of the bottom lock at 7:55 passing through the flight in 30 minutes. That evening we moored on the Oxford summit by the radar mast. During the morning we made a very slow decent of the Braunston flight causing us to think about our strategy to get to the Thames. 5:00AM Wednesday morning saw us setting off for Banbury and Morrison's to replenish supplies. We set off just as early on Thursday morning, mooring that evening at Baker's lock. Friday lunchtime we were on the River Thames above King's lock. A celebratory bottle of bubbly ensured a happy afternoon. Saturday morning we cruised gently to Newbridge in good time for Terry Kirkpatrick's afternoon garden party with Pimm's and a hog roast. After Terry's party we have settled down to our usual gentle cruising pace, Sunday resting, followed by a two day gentle jolly to Lechlade where we are now.
